My Special Edition NYC 2014 Day 2 Recap: Deals, squeals and feels~

In my last post, I shared my Special Edition NYC 2014 Day 1 experience, so now I bring you my Day 2 recap!

On Day 2 of SE:NYC, my goals were to go meet Gail Simone, attend a panel (or two), get a handful of $1 comics, score a toy ( or two... haha), do whatever I wasn't able to do on Day 1 and just have fun-SURPRISINGLY I was able to accomplish them all!!!

The weather that weekend was a little on the hot side, but it was totally okay because the AC at the Javits A+++

After settling in and enjoying the coolness, I headed over to Show floor to look over the booths again, ogle over toys and debate with myself on whether or not I should purchase them.

Riot Gear Glenn was one of those items! I have the BIGGEST crush on Steven Yeun and his character Glenn on The Walking Dead, but I had to pass. I think if it was the figure based off S.Y. I would have thrown my money at the booth owner.

I wasn't severely allergic to dust and could own plushies... <3
This time around I bought more items (photos of loot just a few pics away) Definitely picked up more comics and I even haggled my way for this Justice League Unlimited 3 figure set of Flash, Question and Wonder Woman for $7. The guy was so nice~

The day before, I really wanted to meet Gail Simone, but the line to her booth was so long (rightfully so) and I was a little intimidated so I passed off and decided to save it for day 2! Which was a great idea because the line was much shorter so I got to take up her time trying to get the right photo!

I didn't bring any of my comics written by Gail Simone which I'm kinda kicking myself about. When I I usually visit a writer (or artist) I do, but I had no space in my back pack. Next time!

Also, I wanted to meet Francis Manapul, but his booth's line trailed down to the restrooms and again- intimidated ( and waiting and stuff). Heard he was doing free sketches, once again king myself. I did get him to sign a majority of my Flash Comics at NYCC, so not too bad, right? T_T

Creeper shot from a far ...DOODS, amirite?
While In the Artist Alley part, I stumbled across two amazing cosplayers! RIGHT? Tell me not!!

That definitely had to be the best Dee cosplay I've ever seen and Black Canary was not only sweet, her duds were so on point!

Speaking of on point cosplays, I stumbled upon this crowd pleasing duo on my way to the panel room!

One of my goals was definitely visit a panel and time allowed me to go to two! I attended the Howard Chaykin Spotlight Panel and Marvel: 75 Years of Marvel Panel. Definitely panels I wouldn't normally attend, but I'm glad I did because they were very interesting!

Gosh- Who knows what Chaykin was saying, but I'm pretty sure it was sassy and funny haha!

After the panels, it was time to part ways with Special Edition NYC 2014! My loot and I headed over to Taco Bell to celebrate a successful summer con with a bean burrito, so I can sleep off the con experience. (which is mostly caused by from walking for hours haha)

  • Assortment of $1 comics (10+)
  • Justice League Unlimited 3 Figure set, Wonder Woman, The Flash & The Question
  • Yale Stewart 7 pin set

I really enjoyed myself at Special Edition NYC 2014! I definitely enjoyed the intimate atmosphere and having a con before the con available. Happy I had Andra of Crowded Thoughts and Crooked Teeth 's company of Day 1! ^^ Oh and OF COURSE,  being offered the opportunity to cover the event as media. Eeep!

See you, this October at NYCC (If tickets don't sell out in seconds haha) and of course next year, SE:NYC!!

  1. Gail Simone!! I wasn't able to get a picture with her at C2E2, but happy to just get to meet her (regardless of how awkward I was).
