These Are the Lipsticks You Are Looking For: A Star Wars x CoverGirl Review

They're here! They're here! After months of drooling over the Star Wars x CoverGirl collection from far far away, I finally own the limited edition lipsticks.

With this collection taking inspiration from featured characters, the shades of these 6 lipsticks are everything BUT typical, especially for CoverGirl.

Yes, that's lilac!

I haven't been this excited over a collection like this in--well, okay maybe a few weeks. Hmmm. But I'm still excited!

CHROME CAPTAIN: SILVER #10

Of the collection, I was looking forward to this silver lippie the most! In the Chrome Captain look, this shade looked so promising and opaque, but it is actually a sheer frost. *Sad face* It would look super cute over a base because it is a little patchy, so all is not completely lost!

DROID: GOLD #40

This C-3PO inspired lipstick leans more on the orange side, but has the sparkliest gold specs! It didn't settle into my lip lines despite being a a frost like the silver shade. WIN!

DARK APPRENTICE: DARK RED #30

Now, it might be because I'm a sucker for red, but this shade was my favorite! This has a semi-matte finish and the tiniest of blue specs. I'm sure this color will flatter every skin tone!

STORM TROOPER: DARK PURPLE #50

Woah, I applied this pretty lousy, but trust me this is a good look! I have to say it didn't apply as easy as the  red, but this is going to be my leading fall color...as long as I take my time applying it.

MYSTIC: LILAC #20

I was SO excited to see this color from CoverGirl and couldn't wait to try it on, but I was a little disappointed when I did. The frost finish settled into every fine line, but he color is too beautiful for me not to love it. I'm still going to wear it all the time--except I'll try a base under next time.

JEDI: NUDE #70

I didn't expect to love this color on me as much as I did. This was used for the Jedi look and it was such an angelic approach that I gave it a chance (SO glad I did). While it is called 'Nude', it's more of sheen and has gold shimmer which is definitely a different approach.

Overall, I have to say I'm glad I picked them up because I own nothing like them--that and I know if I didn't I would be kicking myself. I hope CoverGirl decides to the collaborate for episode VIII and IX to take advantage of opportunity of light saber packaging and clever names. Kinda weird that didn't happen this time around.
  • Did you purchase anything from the collection?
  • Is it a hit or a miss?

    1. Me too! Its a shame that the lilac and silver are a little lacking.

  3. I ordered the Dark Purple when I went in to order the nail polish. I wanted to see swatches on actual people. I love the make up on the models but I don't do that!

I may now have to find them all!

    1. Oh, how are the polishes? I skipped out on those. Yeah, there are not too many reviews with people actually wearing them.

  4. The lipsticks look amazing! For some reason the promotional images make the colors look WAY more metallic and dull but I might have to try and hunt for these again

  6. I was so excited when this collection was announced, but the more reviews I see the more I'm feeling meh on it. Not to mention the fact that I have NO IDEA if it's even coming to Canada... sigh.
