Let's Remember That Time YSL Collaborated With Star Wars to Bring Us the 'One Love' Collection in 1999

To think, in 1999, while I was playing with my Hidden Majesty Queen Amidala doll, someone out there was applying the Amidala's Red lipstick at a Sephora counter. Don't get me wrong, I loved that doll, but c'mon, an exclusive lipstick identical to the one Queen Amidala wore is a wee bit cooler than a doll whose disguise us a mask of their own face.

Maybe I'm just bitter.

The Amidala's Red lipstick was part of the 'One Love' collection designed by Terri de Gunzberg. It consisted of Star Wars named lipsticks, nail polishes, eyeshadow, and more inspired by four Amidala themed looks. They were appropriately named, One Destiny, One Dream, One Truth and One Will.

The collection was made available in November of 1999 with pieces such as the powder priced around $35 and the nail polishes at $20. While the collection didn't have any special Star Wars packaging (like the recent Covergirl collection), each piece has an identifiable metallic red compact with "One Love" etched on the mirror.

ONE DESTINY

ONE DREAM

ONE TRUTH

ONE WILL

I wish I was able to find more photos and info, but this collection was a rare find! Not to mention, these were the days way before beauty blogging. Gosh, times like these make me grateful for arm swatches.

  • What do you think of the collection? Better than the recent CoverGirl?
  • FUN FACT: This collection was also re-used as the Millennial collection called 'LOVE 2000"

  3. Looks absolutely cool! I don't think I would use this make-up in practice (everyday occasions), though.
